OAK: Oak has been widely used in the UK for centuries for building, shipbuilding, fencing and furniture. It has earned a well deserved reputation for exceptional solidity and unrivalled durabilty. Oak is a dense timber with a regular close grain and it is almost knot free. The high concentration of natural oils makes oak highly resistant to decay and repellent to insects. Our oak garden furniture is attractive and hard wearing. A polyurethane finish has been applied at the factory providing a durable finish which is more resistant to spills. Regular treatment is not essential although preservatives such as teak oil can be applied to help restore the original colour. If untreated, it fades to an attractive silver grey colour.
