PRESSURE TREATED TIMBER: Pressure treatment is a lifetime preservative treatment. The preservative is forced deep into the timber under pressure in a vacuum and penetrates below the surface. All other treatments apply a coat of stain to the surface of the timber only. With pressure impregnated timber, the chemicals are permanently bonded to the cell structure of the wood at a molecular level. Tanalith E is a widely used water based version so pressure treated wood is often described as tanalised. Pressure treated wood is almost colourless except for a slight green tint caused by the copper content in the preservative. No further preservative treatment is ever needed. However, if you want a coloured finish you can paint over pressure treated or tanalised wood with a suitable wood preservative in any colour.

PEFC CERTIFIED TIMBER: By choosing this product, you are supporting responsible management of the world's forests. This product is PEFC certified. Our PEFC licence number is PEFC/16-37-2190. Our PEFC chain of custody certificate code is INT-PEFC-COC-1119. To verify our PEFC membership visit the PEFC Member Search and search for Summer Garden (full name "Summer Garden and Leisure Buildings Ltd"). Please note if you want a genuine PEFC certified product it must include a valid PEFC claim, which must include a valid licence number and/or certificate code from a genuine PEFC member. It must also be described as PEFC Certified or PEFC Pure. Claims that "we use PEFC timber" or "our suppliers are PEFC certified" are dishonest, because the PEFC certifies products and not suppliers. If the claim is invalid the timber is not PEFC certified.

ABOUT THE PEFC: PEFC, the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification. Since 1999 the PEFC has certified over 280 million acres of forest in 56 countries. PEFC promotes the stewardship and use of forests in a way, and at a rate, that maintains their biodiversity, productivity, regeneration capacity, vitality and their potential to fulfil, now and in the future, relevant ecological, economic and social functions, at local, national, and global levels, and that does not cause damage to other ecosystems. PEFC certification ensures that forest-based products reaching the marketplace have been sourced from sustainably managed forests.
