The picture shows the 6'4"x10'6" silver finish greenhouse with horticultural glass and optional staging.

These incredible value greenhouses are 6'4" wide. The lengths are 4'4", 6'5", 8'5", 10'6" or 12'7". Features include aluminium frames in a choice of anodised silver finish or powder coated green finish. Powder coating and anodisation are processes which help to keep the frame looking pristine by slowing down oxidation. Further options include the choice of horticultural glass, toughened safety glass or polycarbonate glazing. Standard features include a single sliding door with a low threshold to provide easy access and a minimum of 1 roof vent to provide ventilation. The frame includes extra braces and struts to provide extra strength and rigidity. Options include staging, downpipes and louvred vents. HORTICULTURAL GLASS: Horticultural glass is the traditional glass for greenhouse glazing and it remains a cost effective option. Although brittle, glass is also rigid and it strengthens the aluminium frame. Glass is also heavy which helps to resist wind. Unless it is broken glass will not deteriorate unlike plastic alternatives which are easily scratched. Although polycarbonate is stable, styrene and perspex quickly lose their transparency. Horticultural glass is normally supplied in small panes up to 24" x 24". Because of this size limitation the glass panes are overlapped. Horticultural glass also features more minor blemishes and imperfections than other more expensive glass but the affordable price makes it a sensible option for any greenhouse.

STRUCTURAL CILLS: This greenhouse includes low profile structural cills. A separate base plinth is not required. Structural cills are designed to suit a low threshold doorway. They are stronger than normal greenhouse cills with a lower profile than a traditional base plinth. Structural cills feature a flat underside to spread the weight of the greenhouse over a larger area. They can be placed on concrete, paving slabs, bricks or decking but structural cills should not be placed on soil or gravel.

GREENHOUSE LOCATION: Ideally your greenhouse should have a clear space at least 18" wide on all sides, if possible. This ensures easy access for both installation and future maintenance. In reality this is often not practical and at many sites it is not needed. A reduced clearance is often possible on one or two sides. You should cut back or remove any nearby shrubs and trees. Remember to allow for future growth. Ideally the ridge of a greenhouse should run from east to west. The best position for a freestanding greenhouse is a sunny spot outside the shadow of nearby buildings and trees. A sheltered position is best otherwise additional screening may be advisable. Polycarbonate glazing is not recommended at exposed sites. Plants need plenty of water so your greenhouse should be close to a water supply and the site should be well drained.

SIZES - LENGTH AND WIDTH: The external wall sizes are listed alongside the price. The first dimension listed is the width and the second dimension is the length. The width refers to the angled gable walls at the front and rear including the door wall. The length refers to the side walls.
